A Jewellery Store in Melbourne with Italian Heritage

Franco Jewellers began when Franco Ceresiani migrated from Italy in 1956, trained as a jeweller and watchmaker, and opened his first boutique on Elizabeth Street in 1968. Today his daughters, Silvana and Daniela Ceresiani, run the business. They grew up around gemstones and diamonds and started helping in the shop at 13.

That heritage shapes what you’ll find here. As a jewellery store in Melbourne with Italian roots, we bring in European designs that are hard to find elsewhere. Franco Jewellers is the sole Australian importer of Gival Gioielli, an Italian jewellery house, and we choose our pieces personally. When you see something here, there’s a good chance you won’t see it on anyone else.

Jewellers in Melbourne CBD Who Never Rush You

Most jewellers in the Melbourne CBD are street-level shops with staff moving between customers. We work differently. Our boutique is on the 9th floor, away from the foot traffic, and the people helping you are the owners.

Walk-ins are welcome Monday to Saturday between 11am and 4pm, subject to availability. If you would like Silvana or Daniela’s complete attention, book an appointment and the time is yours. Sunday visits are by appointment only. Many clients come back two or three times before deciding, and that’s completely fine. Our founder’s philosophy was that customers and jewellers should be friends just the same, whether or not a sale is made.

When the Piece You Want Doesn’t Exist Yet

Sometimes what you have in mind isn’t in any collection. Perhaps it’s a pendant using a stone from a family piece, or a bracelet with a very particular clasp. Our in-house master jeweller, who has more than 25 years of experience, designs and makes custom-designed jewellery in our own workshop, so you stay in touch with the person making your piece from the first sketch to the final fitting.

Looking After Your Jewellery

Our relationship with a piece doesn’t end when you take it home. We offer repairs and resizing, cleaning and maintenance, and jewellery valuations for insurance purposes. If you have inherited or unworn jewellery, we can also remodel it, reusing the gold and stones to create something you will actually wear. You’ll find us at Suite 904, Manchester Unity Building, 220 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000. We’re about a five-minute walk from Flinders Street Station, and several tram routes run along Collins Street. Commercial car parks are close by.

Both are available on many diamond pieces. Our diamonds are GIA certified, and we’ll explain the differences so you can choose what suits you.

Can you resize or repair jewellery bought elsewhere?

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes, shipping is free Australia-wide on online purchases.

Can I have a piece made to my own design?

Yes. Our master jeweller creates custom-designed pieces in our workshop. Book an appointment to talk it through.
